Lagos, Portugal – Day 27 (Morning Workout, JuliFoto, Frente y Verso Print Shop, Post Office)

Day 27 (Monday, October 25, 2021)

Woke up at 7am and went for my morning run and workout. Here is what I did:

Ran 1.28 Miles (0.6 there and back), 3 sets of 10 pullups to chest level or as high as possible, 3 sets of 8 dips from the pullup bar going as low as possible, 100 push ups (30/20/20/10/10/10), 1 minute flutter kicks, 1 minute Planks with straight arms – Left/ Right/ Regular, 3 sets of 8 leg raises from the pullup bar, 3 sets of 10-15 second side holds from the bars, 3 sets of inverted rows.

My run time is improving gradually and I am seeing some progress on the side holds. I previously injured myself doing too many pullups and had to stop for a while so I am going slowly on the rebuilding.

After my morning workout, I had a cup of coffee on the balcony to enjoy the view. The buildings are old and work and we only have a sliver of an ocean view but to me, it’s a pleasant way to take in the morning.

Then I went to the Photo Shop, Jose Julio Foto, to get some 2″x2″ photos for my International Driving Permit. (Cost: 7 EUR for 4 photos – They do not do less than 4). The woman was very nice and the process was quicker and cheaper than in the US.

Afterwards, I went to Frente y Verso to get copies made of my Driver’s License Front/Back and to print the International Driving Permit form from AAA. I also bought a manila envelope for shipping. (Cost: I think it was 2.7 EUR but I forgot to get the receipt and I paid in cash). They were quick and efficient and the process was simple. You just email any files you want printed to the email frenteyverso@sapo.pt then they show you the document on the screen to double check and then they print it in color or black and white as you request.

Then I walked to the Lagos Post Office or CTT (website). I was expecting a long wait and poor service based on feedback about the bureaucracy. First you take a ticket and then wait for it to be called on the screen. This does take a while but not really any longer than in the US. I think I waited about 15 minutes or so for my turn but I had to prepare my documents anyway. At the counter, they expect you to be prepared but the lady was very helpful even though I could not speak Portuguese. She spoke to me in English as much as possible and explained what I needed to do. She was very quick and efficient in my view. (Cost: 4.20 EUR for shipping to the US with Tracking. It would have been a little over EUR if I did not get the tracking)

While I was walking around to all these places, I could not help but notice that the Lagos Castle wall pops up throughout the town as a constant reminder of the long history.
