Day 56 (Tuesday, November 23, 2021)

Today, I woke up at 7am and had a breakfast of yogurt and granola with a coffee. Then I packed up my surf gear and went to Jah Shaka surf shop to get a Beach Transfer (Cost: 25 EUR but paid yesterday – Day 55 Nov 22).

The beach transfer was with Tiny Whale. Jorge picked myself and the other surfers up at 9am and drove us to Praia do Zavial. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and not very close to the town. There is a restaurant on the right side of the beach but it was closed. The surf forecast was only about 2 feet with 10-20mph offshore winds from the Northwest.

You can see from the photo the forecast was fairly accurate. However, on the far right side of the beach around the rocks the waves were a bit bigger around 2-3 feet and formed an A-frame wave so you could go right or left. This was actually pretty decent so I had a nice session and caught a few rights and lefts. There are a significant number of submerged rocks on the right hand side of the beach but the water today was very clear so they were easy to see and avoid. Even though the waves were fairly small and the beach is not the easiest to get to, it was quite crowded with surfers.

After the surf session, we ate lunch on the beach and then packed up the van. Jorge drove us back to the surf shop and dropped us off around 2-2:30pm.

I walked home, rinsed out my wetsuit, and showered up.

Then I made some pizza, did some laundry, and picked up the house.

Meanwhile, Bi was in Sagres at Crag X with Amanda doing some rock climbing. It looked amazing! Wish I could have done both the surfing and the climbing.

Check out the video below:

On the way out to Sagres Bi bought a few snacks and sandwiches at Pingo Doce. (Cost: 14.12 EUR)
