Day 66 (Friday, December 3, 2021)
Costs for the Day are in the Table below:
Today, I woke up at 8:00 am and had a cup of coffee while I made peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and rinsed some apples and oranges as snacks for our climbing trip. Then I had a bowl of granola with almond milk and packed up our climbing gear.
We left around 9:15am and drove to Portimao to pick up Bruno near the City Hall. Then we headed to Rocha da Pena for some rock climbing.
On the way to Rocha da Pena, we stopped at Jafers Supermercados and bought some pastries. (Cost: 7.52 EUR) The pastries here are quite tasty but probably not so healthy.
At Rocha da Pena we climbed in the areas called Finger Party and Philosophers. They have routes graded according to the French system. The particular routes we climbed were 5b/c and the hardest one was a 6a (so 5.9 and up to 5.10 according to the Yosemite Decimal System). I sport led the routes and felt fairly good on all of them although leading continues to be a mental/fear challenge for me.
We climbed until dark and then hiked down from the crag and drove back to Lagos. By the time we arrived back at the apartment, we were starving. So, we decided to have dinner a few blocks away at Osaka Japanese Restaurante. We had eaten there previously and this time they were just as good. Again, I failed to take photos of the food because we were so hungry. However, it was delicious and filling! (Cost: 32.30 EUR)
