Day 70 (Tuesday, December 7, 2021)
Costs for the Day are in the Table below:
Today, I woke up at at 7:45am and went for my morning run and calisthenics. Here is what I did:
Ran 1.28 Miles (0.6Miles to the Calisthenics Park and back), 4 sets of 10 pullups going as high as possible, 4 sets of dips from the pullup bar going as low as possible, 100 pushups (25/25/25/25), 4 sets of 8 straight leg raises, 4 sets of 10 chin ups, 1 minute straight arm planks (Left/Right/Regular) with dips or leg/arm raises in last 15-30 seconds, 4 sets of side holds from the bar for as long a possible but this time was only 5-10 seconds, 50 rows from the rings (20/15/15), 30 pushups from the rings (10/10/10).
I wasn’t able to do a muscle up so I have definitely regressed a bit in that area. However, the overall workout felt good and my run time is much better than when I started the workouts.
Once back at the apartment, I had coffee and made breakfast of eggs, rice, sausage, and mushrooms with pastries.
Then Bi and I walked a few blocks to the Public Hospital in Lagos (Hospital Distrital de Lagos / Centro Hospitalar do Barlavento Algarvio) to have her ankle examined. We went to the Emergency area and there was only one person in front of us. It took about 15 minutes to check in and fill out the forms. Then we waited for maybe 15 more minutes and Bi was admitted. They examined her ankle, took x-rays to confirm it was not broken, and then wrapped it in gauze and gave her a prescription for an anti-inflammatory/pain medication. (Cost: 91.30 EUR – We will try to recover this via our insurance but paid out of pocket in cash). Bi said the service was very good and the people were friendly.
After leaving the hospital, we stopped by the Pharmacy which was only a few steps away and picked up crutches, filled the prescription from the hospital, and bought some nail polish. (Cost: 29.97 EUR)
Then, Bi tested out the crutches and hobbled back to the apartment. Here’s a photo of Bi on her crutches by an odd painting of a man with a crutch which we thought was very fitting. It was rather cold and rainy today so she is bundled up.
After getting Bi back the the apartment, I went out to print some items at Frente y Verso (Cost: 3.81 EUR) and then got a haircut at Elsi Silva Barber Shop (Cost: 10 EUR). I was happy with the haircut and the price so I would recommend them.
In the evening, Bi and I went to dinner again at Osaka Lagos Japanese Restaurant. We had a large variety of dishes and they are consistently tasty with excellent pricing. I especially like the smoked salmon sushi, the almond chicken, the fried rice, the miso soup, the dumplings, and the chicken noodles. (Cost: 37 EUR which includes a 5 EUR tip)
