Day 80 (Friday, December 17, 2021)

Costs for the Day are in the Table below:

Today we woke up late but Bi was getting up every few hours throughout the night to let the puppy out. In the morning, the puppy had a couple accidents but mostly just because we are trying to figure out a schedule.

Bi and I decided to name the puppy Sydney since that is where Bi an I really grew together and it’s a place that we love very much.

In the early morning, we mostly played with Sydney and Bi started to do some training in the afternoon. Bi registered Sydney’s Microchip online under her name, address, etc. (Cost: 24 Pounds) Bi also contacted the vet to setup appointments for her remaining vaccinations and rabies shots.

We took our Day 2 Covid Tests from A1 Labs which are mandated for UK international arrivals that are vaccinated. (Cost: England Day 2 PCR Covid Tests 89.98 EUR or $104.38 USD Already Paid for on Day 65). The kits had arrived a couple days prior at our Airbnb so were there when we arrived. We registered and activated the kits online which was a bit of a pain since the activation code is on the kit but the PIN is emailed from a separate email and went to spam so it was not easy to find. However, the rest of the process was easy – swabbing of the mouth and nose, sealing the sample, and mailing.

I dropped off the kits in the Priority Royal Mailbox nearby and then stopped by a cell phone store to get a local SIM card. I bought a SIM from Lycamobile that is called Go Unlimited and has unlimited data and calls in the UK for 30 days and cost 26 Pounds.

Walking around the streets is interesting and feels a bit like I imagined. The houses are mostly townhomes and clustered together side by side with the cars parked along the street. The skies are gray and overcast like it could rain at any time and, on the busier streets, red double decker buses pass by.

Some of the stores are familiar like McDonalds of course but I also saw an ALDI nearby. We needed food so I stopped in for some grocery shopping (Cost: 30.31 Pounds) and then headed back to the apartment.

Back at the Airbnb, we made some pizza, hung out in the room, and played with Sydney. There is a nice park only a few blocks away so we took her there a few times as well.
