Day 95 (Saturday, January 1, 2022)

Costs for the Day are in the Table below:

Today, I woke up at 9am, had a coffee and started practicing Portugues on Duolingo. They only support Brazilian vs. European Portuguese but the app is wonderful so I believe it is a useful way to start. I did 30-45 minutes of lessons which I would like to make a daily habit.

Then I listened to part of the ABC World News Tonight with David Muir and also a portion of CNBC Fast Money to get an overview of the markets.

After that, I went to the convenience store down the street to pick up a few groceries. (Cost: 6.86 Pounds)

Bi was able to renew her Australian Drivers License online for a few more years so she completed that process. (Cost: 140.60 USD)

Later in the morning, I listened to nearly all of Jordan Peterson’s Take the Time to Train your Mind. Even if you disagree with his political views, the video is intelligent and insightful on the level of psychology and self-responsibility and I found it very interesting. It gives a lot of food for thought and I particularly liked his counter to happiness as a goal and his opposing view to the perspective of cosmic insignificance. Thanks to Kevin Le for the recommendation!

In the early afternoon, I went for a 4 mile run and then did 100 pushups (30-30-20-10-10), 3 sets of 10 dips, and 3 sets of 20 second L sits in the kitchen from some stools.

In the evening, Bi and I went out for date night at Turkoman Bar & Grill. I had the Chicken Guvec and Bi had Adana Kofte. We also had hummus, a margarita and an espresso martini and finished off with tiramisu. (Cost: 62.10 Pounds) It was a great night out, with a clean, well decorated ambiance and excellent, authentic Turkish food.
