Day 5 (Sunday, October 3, 2021)

Costs for the Day are in the Table below:

Today we slept in and then cooked french toast for breakfast with coffee. It took us a while to figure out how to operate the Delta Q coffeemaker. They seem to be common here and have different pods than the Kuerigs in the US. The Delta Q pods have a foil covering that, apparently, you have to leave on when you put them in the machine. There is a small black button on the top back of the machine where you turn it on but the button is not at all obvious so it took a bit to find. Anyway, super glad to have a coffeemaker working now!

Then we did research on the D7 Visas for Portugal which are 2 year resident visas and have a lot of changing requirements that continue to become more difficult. A good starting point for US citizens is VFS Global. The expat Facebook groups like AmericansandFriendsPT have also proven to be very helpful in giving direction and sharing detailed process files so I would recommend that to others who are interested.

I have also been doing some research on the buses around Lagos since I would like to find a quicker way to get to some of the local beaches since they should get some waves in the next week or so, even if they are smaller. I think the Algarvebus.info website for Lagos does a good job in explaining the EVA (longer routes) vs ONDA (local routes) buses and lines. The ONDA Blue Line route is the one I am most interested in locally because it goes to both Porto do Mos and Meia Praia which are the local beaches that are most surf able (though no waves currently). I am not sure if they allow surf boards so I will need to find out.
