It is with a twinge of sadness that we plan our road trip from the UK and down through France and Spain to southern Portugal. So, I wanted to post a few more photos from the nearby beaches that have brought me many moments of peace, joy, excitement, and serenity in the last couple weeks.

Fistral Beach, Newquay

I have spent many hours surfing this beach and many sunsets walking in the sand and hiking along the cliffs with Bi and Sydney. It can be gray, stormy, and wild or breathtakingly bright and beautiful.

Towan Beach, Newquay

On the opposite side of the headland from Fistral Beach is a small beach next to a very unique house set out on a tall rock accessed only via a narrow suspension bridge from the mainland. This beach is Towan and when the wind is onshore at Fistral it is often offshore at Towan making it a fantastic option when the surf at Fistral is poor.

Hollywell Bay

Hollywell Bay is a short hike from the gravel parking lot and a bit out of the way so it is much less crowded than the beaches closer to Newquay and feels more open and wild. There are big grassy dunes overlooking the beach which is crescent shaped with two large rock islands on the left hand side that almost touch one another. As you can see below, Sydney loved this beach and was darting between the grasses and up and down the sand dunes.

Crantock Beach

I wrote about this beach previously but wanted to share a few more photos since the view changes drastically by the tides. We walk Sydney on this beach in the morning and evenings since it’s near where we are staying and she can run free. Usually, it is almost empty bar the occasional surfers or dog walkers.
