Day 12 (Sunday, October 10, 2021)

Costs for the Day are in the Table below:

In the morning we woke up, had coffee and a breakfast of yogurt and granola.

Later in the morning we headed out to meet up with Sarah and Sylvia for kayaking over to Ponta da Piedade. They only had one inflatable kayak so Bi and Silvia went first. Silvia is a very experienced kayaker and surf skier with a Team Lead Certification from the UK so she was very comfortable even though the ocean was fairly choppy and there was a decent swell coming through.

They paddled all the way to the point.

Then they paddled in amongst the rocks. With the waves coming through, the rocks and archways are extremely treacherous but they made it all the way to the jetty safely. When they tried to disembark, the Go Pro leash came loose and fell into the churning water but somehow Bi quickly snatched it back up before it was washed away. Nice work Bi!

Then Sylvia and I re-launched the kayak . . . Click on the Image below to Play the Video!

It was pretty sketchy getting out of the grotto and through the arch but we had a blast! Thanks Sylvia!

Also, I am just joking about the Sylvia Kayak Tours, she is a friend who was taking us out for fun.

After our exciting kayaking trip, Bi went to the pool with Sylvia and Sarah and I went back to the apartment. While Sarah and I were watching Bi and Sylvia leave the harbor, I noticed there were great waves at Meia Praia so I wanted to grab my board and run over.

I had a quick bite to eat and then put my wetsuit on, walked to the inlet, swam across the channel, and then walked to the break at Meia Praia. It was great. The waves were breaking smoothly and I had a really fun session. I caught one right in particular that was fantastic! Nearly a barrel! I haven’t caught a barrel yet but it’s a major goal of mine and this one was very close. I was crouched low and could see the lip of the wave coming over.

What a great day!!
