Day 34 (Monday, November 1, 2021)

Costs for the Day are in the Table below:

Woke up at 7am and went for my morning run and workout in the rain with Daisy again. Here is what we did:

Ran 1.0 Mile and then walked 0.3 Mile since Daisy didn’t want to run on the way back. She was very interested to look around and smell everything today. 3 sets of 10 pullups to chest level, 3 sets of 10 dips from the pullup bar, 3 sets of 8 hanging leg raises, 100 push ups (25/25/25/25), 1 minute straight arm planks – Right/Left/Regular, 3 sets of side holds from the bars, 50 inverted rows from the rings.

Once back at the apartment I made some breakfast and coffee and did some writing and blog research to try and get my newsletter working.

I also forgot to mention that we cancelled our flights to Australia for a full refund of the points and cash (123k Miles + 181.40 USD cash). We are now thinking that we will need to return to the US for a few months for our visas.

Bi took Daisy for another walk in the late morning and also stopped by the grocery store (Pingo Doce – Cost: 14.77 EUR). They also snapped a nice photo by the Nao Victoria.

In the afternoon, we all hiked 2.6 km to Praia de Porto Mos because the cam at skylinewebcams which everyone here uses to check the surf at Porto Mos was showing some decent waves. So, I took my wetsuit, towel, and surfboard and Bi, Daisy, and I all hiked to the beach. It was rainy and overcast but we didn’t mind.

At the beach, Bi let Daisy run about so she had a fantastic time. I put on my wetsuit and jumped in the water to catch some waves. It was a bit sloppy and not a lot of power but I still caught some decent waves and had a good time.

Bi and Daisy walked long way up the beach and then Bi got a Daquiri at Campimar which she said was really good. (Cost: 5 EUR + 1 EUR Tip). It definitely looks good from the photo.

Bi and Daisy headed back around 4:20pm and I got out of the surf around 4:50pm and hiked the 2.6km back to the place. Then I jumped in the shower, rinsed out my wetsuit, and popped a pizza in the oven for dinner.

While I was in the shower, Daisy’s parents dropped by to pick her up. It was so much fun to have her over for a few days but at the same time, it will be good to have a break since she is so high energy and always bouncing around. We taught her a few new tricks but it was impossible to stop her from jumping up on people. She is a really smart dog though so I think she could learn anything if given enough time and consistent training.

On another note, our rent price is dropping from $1,378.53 USD in October to roughly $835 USD for November (600 EUR + an estimated 120 EUR for Utilities = 720 EUR Total x 1.16 USD/EUR = $835 USD). Rent is as much per month in Nov/Dec as it is Per Week in the summer months of June/July. The Fall/ Spring months like Sept/October are typically somewhere in between. I am probably over-estimating on the Utilities since our landlord indicated they were typically 22.50 EUR for Broadband, 20 EUR for Water, and 44 EUR for Electricity = Only 86.50 EUR for Utilities total.
