Day 53 (Saturday, November 20, 2021)

Costs for the Day are in the Table below:

Today, I woke up at 7am and went for my morning run and calisthenics workout. It was stormy out so I was considering just running to avoid being by the metal bars during lightening. Fortunately, however, there was a break in the weather. So, here is what I did:

Ran 1.29 Miles (~0.6 Miles to the Calisthenics Park and back), 4 sets of 10 pullups to chest level or complete muscle ups, 4 sets of 10 dips from the bar going as low as possible, 100 pushups (25/25/25/25), 4 sets of 8 straight leg raises, 4 sets of 10 chin ups to chest level or as high as possible, 1 minute straight arm planks – Left/ Right/ Regular with dips or arm/leg raises during last 15-30 seconds, 1 minute flutter kicks, 4 sets of 10-15 second side holds from the bars, 50 inverted rows (15/15/10/10).

After my workout, I had a cup of coffee and Bi made a breakfast of toast, avocado, haloumi, and granola. It was quite tasty as well as being relatively healthy.

It was windy and rainy out most of the day and Bi has been wanting a puppy for the last 2 years so we spent most of the rest of the morning and afternoon searching for Cavoodles available in the US or UK (since there are none in Portugal). Bi used to dog sit a Cavoodle named Archie in Australia that she fell in love with and she has been wanting one ever since. It’s also a good breed for me because it’s hypoallergenic and usually doesn’t shed. After many calls and inquiries, we ended up finding a small female Cavoodle near London in the UK through https://www.pets4homes.co.uk. Her parents had both undergone checks for hereditary issues (Curly Coat, Dry Eye (CCDE), Episodic Falling (EF), etc.) and we were able to Facetime the breeder to meet the puppy and her mother and siblings. The father was a miniature poodle (12 lbs) and the mother was a 13 lb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and it was their second litter. The puppy seemed healthy and active and the Breeder was very open and showed us all the puppies and the mother and how he was keeping them in his house.

We decided to reserve the puppy so we put down a deposit! (Cost: 250 British Pounds X 1.19 EUR/Pound = 297.5 EUR) This was a huge step for us and a big commitment. The puppy would reach 8 weeks on December 16th so we also booked flights to London for that day to pick her up. (RyanAir – Cost: 84.93 USD for 2 Tickets from Faro, Portugal to London, Stansted, UK)

Now we just have to figure out where to go from there! Our EU visa will run out on December 28 so we may not even come back to Portugal. We will have to review where and how we can travel with a puppy from the UK and whether we can or should fly to the US or somewhere else. Big changes happening in our little family!!

We decided to go out to dinner to celebrate so we went to Restaurante Japones Osaka. I did not have high expectations but was delightfully and pleasantly surprised. The sushi, grilled prawn, noodles, beef, duck, rice, miso, chocolate gelato, etc were all delicious and also a great value. (Cost: 38 EUR)

Sorry that I do not have any photos of the food! We were hungry and it was so tasty that we ate everything! lol.

After dinner, we walked home and picked up a small milk from the market (Cost: 1 EUR) for coffee in the morning.
