Day 68 (Sunday, December 5, 2021)

Costs for the Day are in the Table below:

We were up until 11:30pm or so last night which is fairly late for us these days so I slept in and got up around 9:30am. I made a coffee and did some writing. Then I made a quick breakfast and packed up my surf gear.

I drove out to Tonel to meet David and Wojtek and picked up Romain on the way. We surfed at noon and there were 3-4 foot waves and some even larger but the 20+mph onshore winds made the water choppy and knocked the waves over. Even with the sloppy conditions, there was a massive crowd in the water and it was nearly shoulder to shoulder. I didn’t even bother taking photos.

The Magic Seaweed Forecast is below and I would say it was accurate.

However, I ended up having a great first half of my session. I caught one particular right that was fantastic with a decent wall that I was able to carve up and down on all the way to the beach. The second half of the session was miserable though since it got even more crowded and windy and the waves lost a lot of power.

After surfing for a couple hours, we got out and changed clothes. I drove Romain back to Espiche and then stopped by Intermarche to pickup some groceries. (Cost: 39.59 EUR)

Meanwhile, Bi went for a long hike along the coast of Sagres with a big group of 15-20 people. On the way back, they went for coffee at a cafe in Sagres. (Cost: 6.5 EUR for 2 coffees)
